THE BADLANDS

Our last destination of note before getting home was a stop at Badlands National Park in South Dakota. The campground there is one of the camps recommended in Lee's book, "RVers BEST PUBLIC CAMPGROUNDS." We were not disappointed. Once the home to a warm sea full of prehistoric marine animals, Badlands National Park is now a sea of rocky buttes, spires and pinnacles. The park is home to one of North America's largest protected mixed-grass prairies, giving campers 244,000 acres of wild beauty to explore. Though 100 degree days continue to follow us across the northern part of the US, the scenery made it all worthwhile.
